The owner

Meet Colin.

Colin enlisted in the Army in 2018 and served seven years. He started in tanks and later moved to cyber defense, with time in Germany as OPFOR, the opposing force that trains other units.

After active duty he worked as a software engineer at a post-quantum cryptography company. He started Bay Bravo in North Beach, the Chesapeake Bay town he calls home.

The working rules carried over:

  • Be where you said you would be.
  • Do what you said you would do.
  • Leave the place better than you found it.

Environment

The landfill is the last resort.

Most junk gets buried because that is the easiest thing to do with it. We want a better environment, starting with the Chesapeake we named ourselves after. So every load gets sorted before anything goes to the dump.

  • Donation first. Furniture, appliances and household goods in good condition go to local charities and neighbors who can use them.
  • Scrap metal gets recycled. Bed frames, grills and dead appliances go to scrap instead of rusting in a dump.
  • Recyclables stay in the stream. Cardboard, electronics and other recyclables go to the facilities that accept them.

Only what we can't donate, scrap, or recycle goes to the landfill.
